Normann Copenhagen presents Plane – a wooden aeroplane designed by Ole Søndergaard for children of all ages.</i><br><br>The story of Plane is about happiness, freedom and daring to dream. It is about the inner feelings of freedom and joy that you experience when you set out on new adventures – be they in fantasy or in reality. <br><br>In the summer of 2005 Ole Søndergaard wrote the following in his diary: “Above me, in the distance can be heard the sound of the engine of a little sports plane. It is summer and the air is completely still. The sky is a brilliant blue and as always I am drawn when I see a plane in the sky. With an almost childlike joy I can permanently forget both time and place and soar up into the wide blue yonder".<br><br>This is how Plane came about. The extremely simplistic, minimalistic and almost symbolic approach to product design is not unknown but is rather characteristic of Ole Søndergaard’s work. Honoured with design prizes and distinctions he has during the course of his career created innumerable pictograms, logos and the font ‘FF Signa’. <br><br>Let loose fantasy and set out on a journey with Plane 1, Plane 2 or Plane 3. The modern fusion kitchen draws inspiration from the entire world and mixes different cooking traditions together. That is why Odoardo Fioravanti has redesigned a series of traditional kitchen utensils. Fusion Cooking consists of a palette, ladle and tongs, useful both for cooking and serving. <br><br>Odoardo Fioravanti explains: “My approach towards design is to observe people’s actions and behaviour, although they constantly change. This is the basis for any new concept. As to Fusion Cooking, I had noticed how people mix different food cultures together and I decided to develop some utensils aimed at the fusion kitchen. I wanted traditional utensils to have a new form, which had not been seen before – as if they had evolved and some new species had been created. The name symbolises both the inspiration behind the design, as well as the fusion in the combination of materials.” <br><br>Fusion Cooking consists of three products with different functions, but with the same expression and form. The tongs easily grip the food, the palette easily turns any meat and vegetables, and the asymmetrical ladle is good for serving. <br><br>Fusion Cooking is a design for people who like to be surrounded by beautiful things – including in the kitchen. <br><br>Fusion Cooking will be in the shops from September 2008. <br><br>Price:<br>Fusion Cooking Tongs: Euro 16,- <br>Fusion Cooking Ladle: Euro 20,-<br>Fusion Cooking Palette: Euro 20,-<br><br>Material: Plastic and steel<br><br>Colour: Black<br><br></text> <datepublish>2008-08-06</datepublish> <presskit>Content/776/Fusion.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_81" productid="52" id="125"> <image>Content/764/Drop-all-3.jpg</image> <headline>Drop by Rikke Hagen</headline> <text><i>Simple Nordic design - Normann Copenhagen presents Drop, designed by Rikke Hagen</i> <br><br>The inspiration is a drop of water making perfectly round ripples in the water. Rikke Hagen has created the Drop series for design lovers and for those who like simple, Scandinavian style. The series is made up of two dishes and a bowl. <br><br>In Drop there is a small variation, which makes the expression complete. The dishes and the bowl are mouth blown and reveal quality workmanship, where aesthetics are as important as function. The style is clean, the expression simple. <br><br>Rikke Hagen explains: “In my work, I swing between the sculptural and the functional. My style is simple and clean, and really very Nordic. It is the small variations that make the difference. Drop was designed due to a fascination for the dominant pattern that is created in water when a drop falls into it – a simple ripple, which makes a simple design”.<br><br>The Drop series will be in the shops from September. <br><br>Material: Glass<br><br>Sizes and prices: <br>Dish: Ø37cm, Euro 80,-<br>Dish: Ø25cm, Euro 32,- <br>Bowl: Ø18cm, Euro 26,-<br></text> <datepublish>2008-08-04</datepublish> <presskit>Content/774/Drop.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_82" productid="51" id="126"> <image>Content/766/Herb-function.jpg</image> <headline>Herb Stand</headline> <text> <i>Normann Copenhagen presents Herb Stand – a fun and practical way to organise your herbs</i><br><br>Herb Stand organises your herbs and keeps them tidy, without being boring. Scissors and herbs are gathered together in one place, making it easy to season your food. <br><br>With Herb Stand, designer Jakob Heiberg has focused on function and utility, while creating a design that is different. Its clean form language makes its function clear. However, Herb Stand is also a practical and amusing way to keep and use your herbs. <br><br>Jakob Heiberg explains: “I am very functional in my approach to design. I think it is fun, when you can add something new and different to a product, and thus give the design an extra quality. I wanted to design a product that you could have standing on your table. At the same time, it had to gather several uses around one function – keeping the herbs tidy and making them easy to use every day – which requires a pair of scissors.” <br><br>Herb Stand can be easily separated and the parts can be used on their own or together. The saucer ensures an even watering and emphasises the functionality. <br><br>Herb Stand will be in the shops from September 2008. <br><br>Material: Plastic, scissors – stainless steel<br><br>Price: <br>Euro 33,75,-</text> <datepublish>2008-08-04</datepublish> <presskit>Content/775/Herb Stand.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_80" productid="49" id="127"> <image>Content/555/Krenit-salad-bowl.jpg</image> <headline>A classic is reborn - Krenit</headline> <text>A classic is reborn – the Krenit series, designed by Herbert Krenchel in 1953<br><br>Simplicity and balance is the essence of the Krenit series. More than 50 years after Herbert Krenchel, materials investigator and civil engineer designed the Krenit salad bowl and serving set, the minimalist design is now launched by Normann Copenhagen. The salad set went into production in 1953, but it is the first time that the salad bowl is produced in melamine. <br><br>The Krenit salad bowl is inspired by the simple form language of the East, and the long pointed handles of the salad set reflect the traditional chopsticks. With a simple and clean expression, the Krenit series is a modern classic that lets function and aesthetics play perfectly together. <br><br>Herbert Krenchel says: “An article for everyday use must contain several aspects that play together and create the general impression. It is obvious that a salad bowl has its function, but I wanted to create a bowl which was so pretty that it could be placed in the sitting room as well. I am enthusiastic about forms and love materials. The structure of the surface is important because it makes the bowl attractive and inviting, and you feel like touching it. Krenit melamine has no decoration, and the black and white colourings together create a stress field.” <br><br>With its slowly decreasing rounding and simple expression, the Krenit bowl is an example of a true classic. With a salad set that lies perfectly in the bowl and where the round head makes it easy to scoop up the dressing, Normann Copenhagen is proud to present Herbert Krenchel’s classic design. <br><br>The Krenit salad bowl and set will be in the shops <br>from September. <br><br>Material: Melamine <br><br>Colours: black, white <br><br>Recommended resale price:<br>Krenit Salad Bowl: Euro 26,25,-<br>Krenit Salad Set: Euro 17,50,-<br><br><br>Download high-definition pictures at www.normann-copenhagen.com<br><br>Further information: <br>Contact PR manager Johanne Toft, tel.: + 45 35 270 523,<br>johanne@normann-copenhagen.com <br></text> <datepublish>2008-07-28</datepublish> <presskit>Content/734/Krenit Salad Bowl and Krenit Salad Set.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_42" productid="50" id="128"> <image>Content/495/Moon-top.jpg</image> <headline>A plate called Moon</headline> <text>See the moon from above - Normann Copenhagen presents Moon, designed by Matthias Demacker<br><br>Moon is a dish filled with holes, which breaks all the rules and takes tediousness out of the ordinary. Woofy is a cable container dog with many good qualities, designed by Gabriel Nigro. Woofy’s Dad is Gabriel Nigro and the idea for Woofy came about during a visit to one of Gabriel’s friends, who happened to have cables lying around all over his flat. On the way home, Gabriel began drawing, and by the time he was finished Woofy had been born. Woofy is the story of a practical problem that was resolved with something that became a living thing. Today Woofy is part of Gabriel’s family and lives with him in Copenhagen.<br><br>Woofy never needs to be walked, fed or trained. His fur is smooth and he doesn’t cause allergies or wet the floor. Woofy can conceal your cables in his tummy and he will always be there when you need him. <br><br>Gabriel Nigro recounts: “Woofy came about as a result of my own needs. I have always been irritated at the sight of cables lying everywhere and ending up as ‘cable spaghetti’ on the floor. So I came up with Woofy. In my opinion, the things you buy for the home should add something more to it than just functionality – and that is what Woofy does. Man’s best friend is his dog. A dog looks after you, looks after your family and represents some good values. Woofy is a smart cable concealer, a cool object in all rooms and an item of furniture that can be used in the office, the children’s room or the living room. But for me, Woofy is most of all a sweet, happy dog – and my dear friend.” <br><br>Material: Plastic <br><br>Price: EUR 160.00<br><br>Read more at: <br><a href="http://www.normann-copenhagen.com/woofy" target="_blank" ><u>www.normann-copenhagen.com/woofy</u></a><br><a href="http://www.woofywithfriends.com" target="_blank" ><u>www.woofywithfriends.com – Woofy with all his friends</u></a> <br><a href="http://www.woofyaroundtheworld.com" target="_blank" ><u>www.woofyaroundtheworld.com – the world seen through the eyes of Woofy</u></a> <br><br><br><br></text> <datepublish>2007-08-01</datepublish> <presskit>Content/753/Woofy.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_72" productid="25" id="138"> <image>Content/504/abstrakt-samlet.jpg</image> <headline>1 design - 3 products - 4 functions </headline> <text><i> Kitchen timer, egg slicer and a salt & pepper set – Normann Copenhagen presents Form, three products designed by Charles Job. Form is intelligent design, with a touch of humour that makes dull everyday routines a bit easier to take.</i> <br><br>Form is one common design matching three independent products: an egg timer, an egg slicer and a salt and pepper set. Boil an egg; slice it and eat it with salt and pepper – that is the essence of Form, a design inspired by an old black and white picture of an egg.<br><br>Charles Job explains: “Actually it was a photograph of an egg taken by Hans Finsler, which inspired the trio Form. The motive was an egg, side-lit, that cast a flat, perfectly round, perfectly sensuous, ephemeral shadow. This shadow became the Form series, all identical in shape and size, but each product distinguished from the other solely by the markings on its surface. Each has its own character on the surface which gives a clue to its function. I think that the use of Form will add a kind of fun to the kitchen.”<br><br>Form – Egg slicer <br>Colour: White - black<br>Material: Plastic – stainless steel <br>Price: EUR 20.00<br><br>Form – Egg timer <br>Colour: White - black<br>Material: Plastic <br>Price: EUR 34.00<br><br>Form - Salt & Pepper<br>Colour: White - black <br>Material: Plastic <br>Price: EUR 15.00<br><br>Form will be in shops in August 2007<br><br>High-resolution photos may be downloaded from www.normann-copenhagen.com<br></text> <datepublish>2007-06-01</datepublish> <presskit>Content/724/Form.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_66" productid="30" id="139"> <image>Content/703/kontur-Preview.jpg</image> <headline>Kontur vase designed by Mette Kargo Hvid</headline> <text><b>When art, craftsmanship and industry combine – normann copenhagen presents the Kontur vase, designed by Mette Kargo Hvid</b><br><br>This is the story of an experiment with paper that ended up on display in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. normann copenhagen presents Kontur, the unique vase designed by Mette Kargo Hvid. <br><br>As part of her graduation project, Mette was sitting folding strips of paper, inspired by the ornamentation typical of textile craftsmanship. Through her experimentation with paper, she created a pattern with strips of paper that formed a simple, flexible shape. She positioned the strips of paper on edge and regarded her work. This was how the idea for Kontur took shape. <br><br>Taking inspiration from lace, Kontur has been created in the tension belt between traditional craftsmanship and modern form – designed in norm-transcending materials.<br><br>Mette Kargo Hvid explains: “Kontur springs from my background as a textile designer and represents the concept of a simple, flexible vase, inspired by the intricate ornamentation of lace. I find it interesting to apply my expertise in textiles in alternative ways – and at the same time reflect upon the multifaceted potential afforded by the old craftsmanship traditions. Kontur is designed in silicone rubber because this material, as well as being an alternative to ceramics, gives Kontur a surprisingly soft touch while imbuing it with a simple, informal character.”<br><br>With its soft, flexible material, kontur surprises with a new experience everytime you use it. Today, the kitchen and dining room are a natural extension of one another. The dining kitchen is the family’s new common space and as a natural consequence of this, Ole Jensen has designed a series of pots that<br>radiate a warm, appetising glow – on the stove and on the dining table.<br> <br>Ole Jensen explains: “Nowadays, it is difficult to separate the kitchen from the dining room and vice versa. It was therefore only natural for me to design the Familia pots based on the Familia range. The pots are simple and unrefined, almost primitive in their design and have been created to radiate warmth, life and an appetising glow. When the ordinary appears in a new and liberating guise, everyday tasks are experienced as particularly meaningful. The Familia series is a set of kitchen utensils I would like to have on my own kitchen table.”<br><br>The Familia series is equally suited to gas, electric and induction cookers. They are basic cooking utensils as well as elegant design for the dining table. Normann Copenhagen now introduces Butterfly, the user-friendly tin opener designed by Marianne Britt Jørgensen and Rikke Hagen. Used by the vast majority, the tin opener is a kitchen utensil that embodies a classic design and which has undergone little change over the years. For decades, a small piece of bent metal has functioned as a tin opener in thousands of households the world over. Now, Butterfly sets a new standard, heralding an entirely fresh design interpretation of this small kitchen utensil.<br><br>Rikke Hagen explains:”A tin opener is a kitchen utensil that everyone uses and which we can never find when we need it. We have now given it a shape and a colour so that it no longer gets lost in among knives, forks and spoons. The idea behind the tin opener’s grip function is a butterfly nut. It incorporates a multi-grip design because we all grip tin openers differently. Our tin opener is easily recognisable because of its ’butterfly’ design, but the idea derives from a tool.”<br><br>Butterfly is handy, the grip is ergonomic and the colour makes it easy to locate in the drawer. It comes in eight different colours and can be put in the dishwasher. Butterfly is the perfect tool for all lovers of good design.<br><br>Butterfly will be in the shops in March 2007.<br><br>Colours: Red, black, orange, pink, purple, blue, white, green<br>Price: EUR 13.75<br>Material: Stainless steel - plastic<br><br><br>Download high-resolution images at: www.normann-copenhagen.com - go to <b>Press Material</b><br></text> <datepublish>2007-02-01</datepublish> <presskit>Content/721/Butterfly.zip</presskit> <facts></facts> <mediagroups></mediagroups> </pressrelease> <pressrelease menuid="6_1_75" productid="29" id="143"> <image>Content/210/Normann-knives-sammensat.jpg</image> <headline>Normann Knives designed by Francis Cayouette</headline> <text>Normann Copenhagen introduces the Normann Knives designed by Francis Cayouette<br><br><i> The Canadian designer Francis Cayouette has done it again. Normann Copenhagen introduces a series of unconventional kitchen knives that combines the finest qualities in one and the same design product.</i> <br> <br>A series of kitchen knives with an excellent handgrip that makes them feel like a natural extension of the arm, the Normann knives are an example of good, functional industrial design that focuses on user friendliness.<br><br>Francis Cayouette explains: ”I have focused a great deal on ergonomics in the design process – not only on the organic shape but also on making the knives feel like a natural extension of the arm. The knives are a tool whose ergonomic design ensures the user a good experience whenever they hold the knife. The industrial design gives the knives a distinctive look when they hang on the wall or lie on a kitchen work surface. The round shape of the handle and the thin sharp knife blade create a strong design contrast. This, in turn, gives the Normann knives an exciting different look that makes people want to pick them up and use them.”<br><br>The series of sharp, perfectly balanced knives sports a superb hand grip.
